Take whoever you are
with you wherever you are.
Before I ever planned
on being a TAI CHI instructor, I at least knew that I wanted to keep Tai
Chi in my life, no matter whatever else I was doing.
I found a picture from
a 1984 OSHA incident at the LAX airport that included pictures of me doing
Tai Chi on a scaffold 30+ feet in the air.
In 1986 I was working
on many different soundstages and movie sets in many crew capacities.
While most people were sitting around getting fat and bored during 'takes,"
I would quietly practice my Kung Fu and Tai Chi behind the c-stands.
People would ask where
I got all my energy. "You must drink a lot of coffee!" I frequently
heard. However, I had never drank coffee at this point and didn't drink
caffeinated beverages either.
The point is I kept my
Tai Chi with me and it benefited the career I was in, then eventually
it opened up doors I would not have anticipated.
So be you. As long as
you KNOW YOU ARE making "GOOD CHOICES" -- be the NEW YOU despite
your job, despite your environment, and despite the words and actions
of friends and family.
An ACTOR is IN CONTROL
OF WHO THEY ARE.
So be a good person by
being a good actor.
Good luck.
If you live in Los Angeles
or are visiting and want a PRIVATE LESSON, give me a call. I'd love to
help.
